Debra L. Kaplan, MA, LAC, LISAC (In Balance Counseling) is a licensed therapist working
with adolescents and adults, individuals, couples and families. Debra specializes in the following:
Childhood abuse (sexual, physical, verbal, emotional or spiritual)
Addictions (chemical and behavioral: emphasis on eating disorders)
Codependency (low self-esteem, enabling of unhealthy behaviors)
Sexual compulsivity/addiction
Mood disorders (anxiety, depression, postpartum depression)
Complex PTSD (personality disorders, emotional dysregulation and reactivity)
Debra's therapeutic focus is experiential, emotion focused and supportive. Her
clients can anticipate learning effective and successful tools in creating inner
emotional safety and emotional regulation. Her clients have voiced success in living
happier, healthier lives in relationships both within themselves and with others.
Together we will address decreasing impulsive, self defeating and self harming
behaviors that once served as adaptive measures from experiences of rejection,
abandonment, and/or invalidation. My focus is to support a client's enduring,
positive change away from self-defeating behaviors and toward healthier
experiencing of self-empowerment and happiness.
